About Lucy Rouse

Hi I’m Lucy Rouse, of Lucecannon PR. I’m an award-winning independent PR consultant and copywriter with 20 years of experience as a journalist and 11 years of experience in PR and communications. I use my skills, experience and connections to help great people achieve amazing results.

“PR works best when it is integrated with other communication including social, web, e-marketing and even paid advertising.”

What makes me different

I use my extensive experience as a journalist to find and tell really compelling stories about businesses to a range of different audiences. I am a former editor of Broadcast magazine, the leading publication for the TV production industry, and I was a freelance journalist for a further 10 years writing about the media for national newspapers including The Guardian, The Observer, The Financial Times, The Independent and The Sunday Times. I offer PR consultancy services to companies large and small including the following services:

I work with clients to help define their brand, purpose and values, and to set Key Performance Indicators for successful marketing and PR. Once we’ve determined who your different audiences are, I work to devise appropriate messages and outlets, planning campaigns across different media and channels.

Media Relations

I help clients define the stories they want to tell about their businesses, helping them understand what is genuinely ‘new’ and interesting about their organisation. I then write and distribute press releases to the relevant media and pitch ideas to journalists, in a way that will ensure successful coverage. I have particularly good contacts with local and regional media in the South West and many friends and former colleagues who work in the national media.

Whether it’s for a website, a blog, a feature article for a magazine or newspaper, a speech or a background briefing note, I can help clients write great copy that will get them noticed and, more importantly, make sure they’re remembered for the right reasons.

I work across paid, earned, shared and owned media. By integrating different media into a PR campaign, we can drive better results and utilise better measurement techniques across multiple channels.

I offer media training, including top tips for talking to journalists and ways to improve your confidence in front of a camera or down the line to a radio studio.

I am experienced in event management, from guest lists and invitations to RSVPs and all the suppliers you would expect to help you stage a great event for stakeholders including venue hire, catering and audiovisual equipment.

INTERVIEW with Ricky Gervais

For several years I wrote the copy for the Edinburgh TV Festival Guide and interviewed many TV celebrities and execs attending the Festival.

“So Ricky Gervais is Madonna’s all-time favourite comedian. She said so in a rare TV interview during last month’s Live8 concert and Gervais’ friend and broadcaster Jonathan Ross hasn’t stopped going on about it since.”
